I was building a little computer for my mom and the mb is not reading all the memory and I don't know why??? But when I go into bios the reads it at ddr 333 and only comes up with 512 mb instead of a 1gb????

P4i65g w/p4 3.06
Kingston valve ram -kvr400x64c3ak2 2x1gb
 
Tell us more about the system and the memory you are using. A lot of oem box store computers us cheap "high-density" memory that is not entirely compatible with other motherboards. If you are using memory left over from one of those or if you purchased it off ebay that is likely the problem. When purchasing no name generic memory always make sure it is "low density" unless it is the exact same memory that came in the original oem computer. Low density has (essentially) universal compatibility.

sounds aged. there is one compatability switch for the memory in the bios?
and what if it is so old that it does not support the "configuration" of the memory module? did you check the compatability list?


it sounds most like an issue when it goes Dual channel , which happened a lot back then.
they used to be very specific about the configuration of the module When that was an issue, but it is not even in the "notes" of the manuel.
