I'm failing with RAID...

Help. I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a RAID 0 array I've made with two 60 gigabyte solid state drives. When I select the primary partition while installing windows, I get this: Windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error: 0x80300001.

What should I do? What did I mess up?

Did you secure erase both drives before putting them into raid array?

Nope. Funny thing is, I just did that while waiting for a response. I'll let you know how it works in a minute.

Did things in the wrong order, with the wrong RAID settings (what the heck IS JBOD??). Small setback. I'm trying again.

Erase raid. Secure erase both drives. Setup new raid 0 with 64 KB size. Load windows 7, and hope the raid driver works *fingers crossed*.

I'll post back when it doesn't work again

You can get this Error: 0x80300001 if you have any bootable drive on the controller ahead of the drive/partition you are installing windows onto.

I guessed that, and checked the boot order. It was wrong, but fixing it didn't make a difference.

However... I did figure out the problem.
I don't want to admit what I did.
It's embarassing.
Even more than normal. But... I guess I have to admit it. Here goes.

I learned something important today! To install windows 7 you need to: have the windows 7 install disk in the drive . If there was a facepalm smiley face, I'd use it. I can't believe I messed that up so badly, but that was the only problem. Once I put the disk back in the drive, it let me install. Boy, I'm stupid.

Sorry to bother you with my non-thinking. Thank you for trying to help me

I have the speed results from As-ssd. I'll post them in a seperate thread later, once I've got everything installed.

Thank you for you kindness in the face of my, uh, learning experiences . I'll try to keep 'em to a minimum.

Also, the stuff I'm made of... this seems to do it justice: .

That smiley is awesome.
