AM2 versus AM2+


I'm looking to upgrade the CPU in and AM2 mobo. Will an AM2+ CPU work in and AM2 mobo???

Socket wise, yes.
The mobo itself may or may not support the newer CPU though. Like Glaze said, we need to know what mobo as well as what CPU.

It is a Dell Dimension C521. The mobo is not identified like what everyone is used to. It is a proprietary Dell mobo made in China. I don't know of this helps.

If so, I think the newest CPU I got to work in it was a Sempron-LE and it even had issues identifying it.

Why not get a cheap am3 mobo and cpu? Or its better to upgrade all at once
