Planning to order 6970...couple questions.

Hi.
My system is in my sig.
I bought the 1090T about a month ago and it almost works perfectly in my old AM2+ motherboard.
The motherboard has one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot.
The new graphics cards are PCIe 2.1. Will they work OK in my motherboard, and if so, will there be any performance hit?
My PSU has 6 pin and 8 pin PCIe connectors so that will work.

Then, I'm looking at XFX:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150517

After MIR, it's $330.
Would anybody recommend a different brand? My current Gfx card is XFX..and the MIR process for that went smooth.
I don't have much money to spend, and would already be spending more then I should for the XFX $330 card.

Thanks!

PCI Express 2.1 supports a large proportion of the management, support, and troubleshooting systems planned for full implementation in PCI Express 3.0. However, the speed is the same as PCI Express 2.0. Most motherboards sold currently come with PCI Express 2.1 connectors.
So apparently it simply offers certain compatibility with PCI-E 3.0. No speed difference. It will work fine.

Hi everyone.
My XFX Radeon HD6970 arrived this morning!
It's installed...along with a fresh copy of Win 7 x64.
It's awesome!

...and the fan really does sound like a jet engine when it's turned up to 100%. Lol
