The future of Canadian internet takes a hit with "Backdoor UBB"

In the CRTC's infinite mercy they have denied the request of major ISPs to allow them to bill their last mile customers for every GB that passes through the cable between the customer and their independent ISP.

Instead, they have allowed the Duopolies to raise their price per Mbit to the ISPs by 1200+%.
For example, a 1 Gbit AGAS hookup costs most IISPs $1700 a month to their customers, the new rate will be $23000.

Without a doubt they will fight this, however, if the prices are not returned back down to a sane rate, competition in Canada's internet will be crushed.
