I'm planning on a R4E/Intel 3960x

I'm looking for the "best" memory to get for it that fits the black and red colors :) I don't see anything in the 2400 range from Corsair?

Just pick up some G.Skill or Corsair DDR3 1600 that you like, youll see almost no benefit to having the 2400 as the platform itself has more memory bandwidth.
If you really feel the need id suggest the Corsair for ddr3 2400 but its expensive stuff.

yeah I can't find the corsair 2400 stuff. and for benching 2400 matters

Memory clocks quite well on x79. I got 2500Mhz+ on an old 4 stick 8GB kit that is rated for 2000. If you are going to be benching you can buy 2 matched sets of bbse or psc that is rated at 2000-2133 and you should be good. Hypers work too if you have access to some

I have 3x2gb of 2133 Super Talent Hypers but I can't find anymore to make a quad Channle set :(

Yeah that is the problem with hypers, tough to find a matched set of 4. PSC clocks very well at the high end though so I would just go with that. Cheaper anyway

i Just went looking for some more of my ram I think I found a backwater company that has alot of it! What is the going rate on 2GB of ddr3 2200 cl8 hypers these days?

It's been shown that quad channel isn't really faster than dual channel... Higher clocks are what matters. Honestly I'd wait for Ivy Bridge. The platform will be a little more mature by then as well.

Not sure I understand this. In benchmarks Quad has been shown to do outstanding (real world who can tell between 1600-2200?) as for IB I'm sure its going to be great but its the main stream gaming platform not the high end enthusiest platform. I'm thinking about maybe waiting for Sr3 and Xeon's along with Nvidia 690's

I just doubt that you will see xeons with unlocked multi ( or with higher multis ) so can be poor platform for oc and good only for multi threaded benchmarks like wprime. Most games can't even use quad cores so 2 cpus will be waste of money.

F3-17600CL9D-4GBXMD, F3-17600CL7D-4GBXHD, F3-17000CL9D-4GBXMD, F3-17000CL8D-4GBXMD, F3-17000CL7D-4GBXHD probably all these kits will make 2400+ but I can't guarantee ( can browse net for tests/reviews ), there should be still older Patriot 2400/2500 and Geil 2400+ kits , some Adata 2400 from Gaming series ( also new for X79 ) and Kingstons 2333/2400 ( new KHX2400C11D3K4/8GX but standard timings look bad ).
Most of my 2000 kits will make 2400+ but I don't have luck to IMC and most end up on 2250-2400. Most Dominators GT 2000+ should make 2400.

I'll have to find the link.

you know it just dawned on me with the intergrated IMC people can't push the blk like the did with x58 and if you don't have an unlocked multi you are limited with overclocking.. Gasp! so wont that kinda destroy any reason to go SR3? God my plans are going down the tubes..

I've heard from the great vine that SB-E likes PSC sticks (what's available now from NewEgg) as opposed to Hyper IC ram. Grab yourself some 2133MHz+ ram for benching purposes. Anything less is pointless. :)
