Hi Guys,

I am looking to build my own HTPC and audio source for my hifi. The system will also be used to play limited amount of games like COD etc.

After researching the options I think I hvae a specification which would be compatible and woudl offer the necessary level of performance. However, I am no expwer so I woudl welcome any advice.

The only part of the specification that I am keen on is the Asus Xonar Essence which based on feedback from various audio forums is a super choice to get great audio for the music system.

Any advice or suggestion would be greatfully received.

You only need $450 to make a great HTPC. With HD prices through the ceiling maybe 500. In pounds about 450.

Otherwise its super over kill. Check scan.co.uk for best prices.
Built a 955 or A8 system.

Since you already almost have a killer gaming rig, why not go all the way. Buy this cpu and board combo http://www.ebuyer.com/252535-intel-...b-cache-retail-boxed-processor-bx80623i72600k for instance. The K CPUs are better than non K as they run faster. They are only charging you about 200 pound for a 2600K in this combo.

I'd suggest a 2500K but if you can get the 2600K that cheap do it.

The PSU you chose I don't trust build this on a Corsair CX 500 minimum price difference.

BTW we may not fit that into the lascala case we'll need a different one. Look at the FT03. Also silverstone. We'll need to move to an mATX board btw so forget the above combo cpu/mobo unless you want a full tower. We can still fit a full blown gaming rig in a similar case to the Lascala though.

FT03- whole high power computer TINY space. Great for floor placement. Or turn it sideways as an HTPC.

Really want an HTPC? Get an Antec 300 case
A8 CPU
FM1 motherboard
4GB RAM
3TB HD
CX500PSU
Bluray drive

done:)
