hard drive starting up bad?

Just a quick question, is it bad for my hard drive to spin waking up all the time. Will this make its life span any shorter? I use my SSD for my boot drive and i was just curious if it was bad for my hard drive to have to wake up all the time (i think its waking up idk what else its doing xD)

I never heard of it being bad, since when you shut down a computer the hard drive basically stops spinning as well. The needle is just placed in an idle position.
