GTX 560 Ti 448 Options

I've been looking through the various choices of thse cards that were recently released and I have been having a hard time deciding between them. I think I narrowed it down to between the MSI and EVGA Classified variants. If anyone may be able to give any input on these cards, or some of the other alternatives as to why one may be preferred over the other I would truly appreciate it. I intend to overclock whichever card I go with, so that is something also to take into account. Thank you.

I personally think that the 448 is a bit to expensive for what it is currently. So long as you are not planing on going sli in the future I would go with an asus dcuII 570 instead for only $15 more then the evga and only $2.13 more then the msi after rebates.

I have never had an Evga card with that cooler on it so I cannot speak to its design but I have quite bit of experience with msi and asus cards. Generally speaking msi twin frozr III cooled cards can go the fastest and are built for speed, however they get very loud when they begin to pull away from other cards.

As for the asus dcuII cooled cards all of the high end cards are three slots which makes SLI a major pain unless you get another brand to go with it down the road. However if you do that what is the point of getting a dcuii card in the first place?

So long as you can take them being three slots they provide the right balance of noise and performance in my mind. Like the MSI cards they use non reference pcbs for better power delivery which generally means they can overclock further. Additionally the fan speed on dcuii cards has never gone past 27%, which is still quieter then a typical 120mm fan, in my experience with them while maintaining similar temps as a twin frozr III card.

With the MSI 448 there have been reports of speeds of 945 MHz core clock and the memory at 1130 MHz after overclocking, up from 750 MHz core and 975 MHz memory, and I've seen some places push it even higher. I'm unaware of the GTX 570's overclocking capabilities, specifically that ASUS card, so how does it compare? I'm running a system with a 2560x1600 resolution screen, so I'm trying to figure out what would work best with that.

EDIT: Some review sites have even listed the MSI being able to be pushed further than that, up at around 1000MHz core clock.

they both use gf110 and the 448 has one more block disabled compared with the 570. I would expect the 448 to clock a bit higher due to less blocks but not by much and certainly not enough to beat an overclocked 570.

I also run a 2560x1600 screen and personally I don't think any single chip gpu is powerful enough to max current games not even a 580 3gb. I would go for 2x 560 ti, non 448, for that res.

I need it less for gaming, and more for just good performance. This is being used in more of an audio/video workstation, however I cannot afford the expensive Quadro cards and instead am attempting to find a reasonable balance for that resolution.

Too expensive. If it had 2GB of memory, it would be better.

What would you recommend instead? I was told that the programs I use work best with Nvidia, so what would your recommendation be then?

I got the EVGA classified from Amazon for $289.99 with free batman game. Sold the batman game on ebay for $25, so I effectively paid $265 for the card. Amazing deal for an incredible card, the best of the 448 series.

The Classified uses the GTX 480 pcb and has a 6 phase 6 phase power delivery.
