300 watt AUX would it run my gtx 570

I have an aux power supply but it only does 3 12 volt power sources and 26 amps.

do the gtx 570 need a 5v rail

Modern GPUs don't use very much 5v, not enough to worry about.
If the auxiliary PSU has a total capacity of 26 amps in theory it will work for a gtx570 at stock settings, but I would not overclock it.

What model is the PSU in question?

its an sws300-12 aux power supply made by LAMBDA

I suppose you could power a GPU with that, it isn't really built for it though. Setting it up to turn on/off at the same time as the main computer PSU might be an issue.

You definitely wouldn't want to touch the voltage slider on the gtx570, but at stock it should work.

The Newegg calculator shows around 260 watts is required for a GTX 570, so you should be fine. May as well give it a try. As mentioned, if it can boot, it can probably run at peak performance.

It seems that the 570 eats a bit more than 300watts at full.
