560ti / PC Crash ( not overheating )

Hi Guys,

my wonderful nvidia 8800gtx died so i replaced it with an asus nvidia 560tl.

my psu is a 750w ( not sure on the brand, can get it if needed ) so i figured it would be fine.

basically i can play battlefield 3 for hours on end and it will never shut down on me. however if i play brink or starcraft 2, something a fair bit older and less demanding, my pc will randomly shutdown. it doesnt restart, literally straight off with no odd sounds or anything. i can sometimes play for 10 seconds, sometimes for 15 minutes, rarely, 30 mins. BUT, if i turn ALL of the settings on the lowest ( except for reso ) it does not shutdown on me.

like i said in the title, i dont think its overheating, hence i play bf3 fine. my temperatures and fans all seem to be optimal too. i used msi afterburner software and my pc didnt shut off and everything again sounded fine.

i read a similar thread - GTX 560 Ti making my system crash?
by Luanpa where he replaced the psu which seemed to fix the issue. This i think would solve my issue but again, why can i play battlefield 3 perfectly fine on high settings. i dont want to have to buy a new psu unless you guys recommend it.

running nvidias latest 5 series driver BETA, still the issue remains.

Any help at all would be appreciated guys, im completly stuck with this one!
im leaning towards psu :/ . dont really want to reinstall windows if it can be helped.

specs are

4 gig corsair xms memory
intel core 2 quad core 2.40
asus p5n-e sli mboard
750w psu
windows 64 pro sp1

thanks peeps

The only thing that may be suffering is the PSU, try with another one, is the only thing I can say.

I think it would be the card, but maybe only certain effects are triggering it.

Try downloading Furmark and see if that makes it crash.

If you think it's your PSU, run Furmark and Prime95 at the same time.

Have you tried bumping the card's voltage up a bit? I've read that doing so solved the problem for a lot of people.
