Can someone tell me where to get the newest official drivers for that USB 3.0 device (host controller)?
I check all over the net but kinda nothing ever worked, and get lot of trash aswell. Official side doesnt have any DL link at all (for me).

Its still working inproper and unstable because of bad driver i guess. Checked all connection, cant find an issue.

On this site they are telling that only a update of the firmware may solve the issue. Now im truly not sure what to get and why to bother with at all but its simply beta stuff.

Now, important to know: driver is not firmware, and updating firmware more sensitive and harder to execute. In case of failure windows recovery wont work, hate that stuff.

Thanks but i already used them and reinstalled several times, wont work. A few times its worked but its working unstable and in middle of transfer the USB 3.0 will stop, or it wont even be detected at all. There is no firmware on MB site.

Its the first stuff i checked...

I dunno how the other peoples got it to work, im not to stupid but it simply doesnt. The ASM 1041 is NOT on the board, the ASM 1041 is on a separate external PCB chip which is connected to the board but its not actually embedded into the board, so its indeed able to be replaced. If it would be that easy i would not even have asked.

Aswell tried with win auto detect and fix, it cant even find any driver for, but i think i may get the stuff at (once tried but didnt truly work):
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/asmedia.htm

But the chip or connection isnt defective, it once worked at full USB 3.0 speed but mostly it cant even detect... and it can suddenly interrupt. The entire software is a mess. All those beta trash. Ivy Bridge chipsets USB 3.0 is finally native (SB too but not any older than that, older stuff needed dedicated chip and software for), its hard to estimate its massive gain. Everything works out of the box and without any issue at that point.

If i cant solve the stupid stuff, all i could be doing is to call the manufacturer and ask for a replacement PCB/chip for that given USB 3.0 part. But i dunno why i cant find other people with same issue, something is wrong. Well, when i try to flash new firmware it says "host is not ready", then it does try a restart but i guess same will happen again. So why is the host not ready? I never had such a issue.

I get this issue with a specific device attatched my usb3 (external hdd). Orheewise kt works fine for me. Have you tried a different device?

Nah, i guess something is faulty with the whole host (ofc i checked it but all i am able to check is if the cables are alligned and that was the case). There isnt a single device that works on those USB 3.0 slots. Mouse, KB... nothing. HDDs get a few of power.... i hear/feel them spinning but they mostly cant even startup, to few power. Its like the Host is working at damaged condition. But there was a moment when the Host is regonized by the OS and it is giving me failure warning when driver not installed. But most of the time, the OS cant even detect of the Host is with or without driver.

Prehaps i may try to replace the whole ASM 1042 chip, the only issue simply is that i dunno how to get. The design is proprietary to the manufacturer, and sheesh.. im not gonna send my whole PC to warranty just because of that single issue and then i have to remove all the expensive parts inside and i will be without any PC for weeks?! Thats nightmare to me... So i simply have to order the piece somehow but without warranty stuff.

I surely never had so many issues such as with those new "beta stuff". I never want beta stuff ever again. Intels native chipset is the only thing that works without problems. But sometimes i truly think, do they actually test that or do they just release new USB 3 hosts, new Vertex 3 drives and whatelse without even testing it just for the sake to be "the first on the market"?!? I truly dont know...

But i truly wish that the quality does increase once again, it only dropped the whole time and nowadays unstable systems or unstable devices is the problem number 1! While power isnt a matter anymore.

To much work for that given issue. I have to disassamble it all, wait several weeks, assemble again (and maybe issue still not solved after).

Several weeks no PC... i dont have a replacement such as you... (probably). And the problem can probably be solved by just replacing the defective PCB which is actually a low cost part.... 20$ i think.

Last time i made warranty replacement, was on the Xbox360. It took me 3 week of waiting time and 2 phone calls in order to get it done. 3 weeks almost no game fun anymore (my PC was to weak at that moment) but at least it was nothing important (to me its important but not for the majority). But when same happens with PC, i cant read mails, i lose ability to interact with others. Im not living at the stone age, i do need a PC. Maybe i can get a piece of junk scrap somewhere, then at least i can read mails but that isnt sufficient, i still cant play my online games with.

On the last PC the china CAPs did bulge and the board finally completly stopped working after only 4 years. But no one is using a PC that much such as i do, so its not comparable to 08/15 people. I cant use any PC older than 8 years (to weak), which means, either the last one or the newest one is sufficient (oldest 2003 [=8 years yet]---->older 2007[destroyed, usualy my backup PC after 4 years]--->2011 = newest).

I usualy do expect a total lifetime of 8 years, if they cant handle that, i get in troubles using that strategy...

Seems like a second high end machine is the solution to all my problems. .. :(

So you think u r going to order that chip, desolder and resolder it on yourself?

Edit: pcb is the board...not a chip. You cant repkace 'pcb.

Ofc i can... its not on the main board... i may be able to steal a iphone and then i can show you the picture. The USB Host controller is on a separate PCB which is actually connected to the board with many wires, but as i said the controller chip is on a small PCB on the front of the case and can easely be separated from the board.

When you see that picture, the PCB is connected to the USB 3.0 and the 2 front panel connectors, so 3 wires in total. The ASM1041 chip is on the PCB which is connected from the front panel. The PCB itself is extremely small and very cheap, i read "Asmedia 1042" on the chip, so its the one being affected on the USB 3.0 100%. Maybe 10 $ only and probably does fit into a thick envelope.

Ofc the board is totaly dissasemled there, usualy there is aswell a chipset cooler and a lot of other stuff on the board.

What i find weird, the black connector (left front panel connector, COM1) isnt used at all. But i cant find a possible slot on the PCB so far. Its surely a power connector because of its huge "iron spikes".

PCB is a board in which chips and other electronics are soldered and wired together. Chips are usualy embedded on such PCBs (ofc there are some exceptions). PCBs can have any kind of shape such as you know, a GPU is aswell on a own PCB, thats why its so easy to remove. Sadly much harder as bigger a board gets because much more parts which can get faulty and hard to separate the issue. With board i usualy mean main board, or MB in shortcut.. but its not the only board.

I think, because sometimes it can regonize the chip (a few times it even worked on USB 3.0 but then all of a sudden it stopped working), but usualy the chip is kinda shutted down or working faulty. However, the USB 2.0 slot on the same PCB still works proper. I think its truly a issue with some parts on that PCB. Its very unlikely that the connection or the board itself is faulty because the only issue i got is on those 2 USB 3.0 slots who either dont work or they got to low power. The reason they got to low power can be several different issues ofc, but the highest possibility is directly on the parts of the PCB. Because the big board is actually not having any electronics for apart from the bus and power connector (that they are faulty is truly very low possibility). The chipset itself isnt having any ability in order to "translate" the USB 3.0 signals, so its very unlikely to cause any failure. The USB 2.0 they all working proper and are handled by the chipset.

Anyway, its very hard to reach the connectors, but i can try to remove and attach, maybe one of the connectors isnt attached properly even if its not viewable. But if that doesnt work it truly is faulty electronics or wires.

Now i even found many other people with USB 3.0 problems on theyr dedicated solutions. It seems like the quality has already been better once... way better. Nowadays. just money. The issue links described is only the top of the mountain, most people wont write down on the net, and those stuff is less than a year of age.

Same issue on almost equal machines:

Well if the issues would be solved its surely awesome board. I know of no second one of that size able to execute teaming LAN and with 2x 1Gbit LAN card inside.
