3 old monitors for eyefinity or 1 big

Hello guys! I have my beloved Dell 2007WFP with an excellent S-IPS screen (20.1"). I also have MSI 6850 GPU which supports AMD EyeFinity. So I want to buy 2 additional monitors and connect all of my monitors to GPU. But I must make a decision - buy 2 monitors with the same resolution as my first one (1680*1050) or I can buy 1 new with big screen size and good quality (and in this case I can't use eyefinity technology because I will be have 2 monitors with different resolution). Also I have money constraint - no more 700-800 USD. On the market I can buy the same monitor model as I have (Dell 2007WFP) but all of them will be used (and it will be cost only 200 USD for 2 monitors). Or I can buy new one, for example Dell U2410 with 24" screen. Please give me advice in what way I should go. Thanks.

I would opt for a larger 1080p display. It will take up considerably less desk space as well.

Depends on what you'd be doing with it really. Im doing a new build and getting the u2410, but its replacing a FW900 Sony display. Eventually, i want to add 2 2412's for Eyefinity as well, but i mostly do MMO gaming so the extra-expanded screen space will be useful.

What kind of games will you be playing with this setup? (im assuming games cause outside of that Eyefinity isn't all that useful.

I like playing BattleField 3.
Also I run across monitor system by Samsung - MD230X3. It has 3 PVA monitor screens (23" screen size). It is pretty expensive and has narrow bezels.I don't know exactly what is better: 3x Dell U2410 (or U2412) or that MD230X3. Thanks for advice.

If you're not afraid of buying a used monitor, you could go a route such as 3x used Dell 2408WFP's, You can nab them around $200 - $225 used. I'm in a similar predicament, trying to decide what route I want to go for a 3x monitor setup, and I think that option is winning.

Technically speaking, the u2410's would be 'better'. The Samsungs are TFT displays, not IPS. (the u2410 is h-IPS).

The Dell 2408WFP mentioned before is also a TFT display. From what i can tell, the u2410 is the replacement for the 2408WFP

I'm told the u2412m's are also very good. They are a more economical version of the u2410, they are e-IPS and are LED backlit, so they should last a while. They have good color reproduction and fast refresh rate. Tho they do not have as many input options as the 2410/2408's. The u2412m's run about $370 new, so they are still a tad pricey, but proly one of the better displays you will find. (and ive been looking very hard at displays lately lol). Im personally going to get a u2410 to start as my 'center' display, then add in 2 others later (those will likely be 2412m's when i can afford it) but im going to use more of the u2410's features than you might.

The Samsungs are a nice idea, but imo, outdated tech, and a hich price for that outdated tech to boot.

Lyian, thanks for answers!
Only one thing that I need to be clarified: if I choose Dell U2410 and two U2412 (so that I save up some money) how about width of bezels, I mean if I place all of 3 monitors at one line on the table will it be still convenient to use these monitors?

This i do not know. When the u2410 arrives, i can measure the bezel itself if you like, i imagine the 2412 would be a similar size (if not smaller). But they didnt make them with multi-screening in mind so they are not super thin.

Thin Bezel's are nice, especially for multi-display setups, but for me, id rather have a better display overall than a thin one. Ive been working with dual-displays for a few years now and, at least for me, i pretty much 'tune out' the bezels now so they arnt a big deal.

the u2410 Bezel width is ~3/4 of an inch or 2cm. Thats about as accurate as i can get with a tape measure.

I also got this monitor yesterday but I am not happy with it. Firstly, on the right bottom corner I can see (only when background is dark or black) area that lighter than another places on the monitor. Also there is some problems with quality. The distance between screen and bottom bezel is not equal - from 1 mm from left to 2 mm on the right corner. So I am going to change monitor or even change it on another model like HP ZR24w.

really? mine isnt like that.. weird. One thing that does bother me has to do more with my desk (ala computer cart) than the display, but it wobbles alittle whenever i type. Its kinda annnoying but i know its not the displays fault. Im use not use to it because of the monster 110lb fw900 i had sitting on here. It anchored the desk really well haha.

Also I have Dell 2007WFP that stands near U2410... And for my opinion gamut and realistic of colors the first one are better than U2410. I tried to adjust color settings, brightness and contrast but I couldn't get such image as I have on previous model of Dell. And quality of the whole monitor 2007WFP much better than 2410. Plastic construction is rigid and without any backlashes. What is brightness and contrast values for your monitor (for mine it is 30 for brightness and 40 for contrast)?
