Hey guys im having a problem with my computer not starting up
after my upgrade my system specs are

CPU - AMD Fx 4100 3.6 Ghz black edition AM3+ socket
Motherboard - M5A97 EVO AM3+ ready

Hardrive - Western Digital 640Gig caviar blue
PSU - Coolermaster 500w RS-500-PCAR-J3
CD - Drive is just a random cd/dvd drive its not important
Os -windows xp home edition

the problem is that i can get into the awesome bios on this motherboard
on startup ill say ok continue starting up its will start loading windows
the bar will go across a time or so and then it stops on the far left side
flashes blue screen with writing on it so fast i cant read it and then it stops
and then the system restarts again .

Sometimes that megatrends company says overclocking failed
i notice that my logitech g15 lcd is all lit up until just before the windows xp loading screen stops

at my asus uefi bios utility it says
in temperatures

cpu temp +114.8F / +46.0c
Mb +86.0GF / +30.0c

VOLTAGE

CPU 1.320v
3.3V 3.336V
5V 5.121V
12V 11.943V

FAN 2000 RPM

For the 8 pin atx power socket i have tryed both 4+4 and just 4 like the manufacturer says i can

can any one help please ill try anything necessary and give any info possible

Regards a very worried Gamer :chair:

my old stuff was my 5770 video card which is a year old and my hard drive is a few years old from the old system other than that everything is new
im planning to update to windows 7 soon if thats a problem but i doubt it is

i haven't touched anything in the system bios besides the system performance -power saving-normal-performance modes to see if an of them made it boot but its saved on normal mode now and its the same

dram oc profile is 1600MHz 9-9-9-24
oc tuner is cancel
cpu ratio is 18.0
amd turbo core technology is on auto
cpu bus /peg frequency is 200
PCIE bus / frquency is 100
memory frequency is DDR3 1600Mhz

could my power supply be to low or my ram be incompatible or could it just be the 8 pin power connector?

Hmmmm...try these in order:

1. Double check all connections
2. Clear CMOS (check your manual for how to do this)
3. Boot and see if you get the same trouble.
4. If yes, reboot and see if you can get into safe mode.
5. If unable to get into safe mode, shut down, remove one RAM stick (verify with manual which slot must be populated first). Boot back up and see if you still get the same trouble.

Okay, here are some more steps:

1. Try the other RAM stick you pulled out and boot it. If same result go to #2
2. Find your Windows XP CD and see if you can boot off of it or if you get the same resulting blue screen. (check BIOS to change boot order if needed)

Are you still seeing the overclocking failed message?

i ran the windows disk and it said
check fort viruses remove any newly installed hardrive and hardrive controllers
run CHKDSK to check for hardrive corruption and then restart your computer
i think this is the screen ive been seeing flashes of
how can i run CHKDSK without being in windows?

should i hook my hdd up to another desktop as a extra drive and let the other desktop chkdsk my hardrive?

I think this has to do more with Windows XP not liking all the hardware changes but here is a Western Digital link to creating a bootable CD so that hard drive diag can be performed in DOS.

I would suggest running repair if the Windows XP cd gives you that option. That may get you to a point that Windows XP can boot and then you'll have to go through and uninstall all the old drivers so that you can install the new drivers for your hardware. FYI - Windows XP still may not behave. If that's the case, I'd jump over to the OS forum and seek further help.

midlight21 i would like to thank you for all the help you have given me today
the windows disk doesnt boot to anything other than we have to shut down to save my data
it has been much appreciated tomorrow ill give this a go but sadly by the looks of it i might need to get a new hard drive if this turns grim thanks for all the help :D

I doubt you need a new hard drive but run the diagnostics just in case. :) You may however need a fresh install of Windows XP. Others here might be able to help you avoid this. I haven't run Win XP in a few years.
