I have a 7970 on water. This is my first GPU overclocking foray so I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to GPU overclocking (though I've overclocked many-a-CPU).

I'm wondering if my testing methodology is wrong, or perhaps I'm using the wrong tools.

Tools:
-------
OCCT 4.1 (started with 4.0) for testing GPU core overclocks.
MSI Afterburner Beta 22 for Overclocking core clocks, core voltage, and memory clocks.
Speedfan for temp monitoring

Equipment:
----------
XFX Radeon 7970

Overclocks
-----------
1.2Ghz Core (925Mhz stock) at 1.3v
1.575Ghz Memory (1.375Ghz Stock)

Question:
----------
Is OCCT GPU 3D shader complexity 8 testing with error checking the best test to run for GPU overclock stability checking? Should I shoot for 0 errors or are a few OK?

What is the best way to test Memory overclocks on the GPU?

MemtestCL gives errors at stock clocks on the random pattern test, but all of the other tests have 0 errors. Is this normal?
