NEED a new case.

Hello .

Just a bit of background, I bought a GTX 560 Ti SOC and it was running pretty hot even during the winter, and now that it's summer I have to have the side of the case off and a desk fan blowing into it to keep it cool enough to not crash during games. I'm not 100% sure what case I have atm but it's fairly old and I don't expect it to be doing much at all but all my other temperatures are fine it's just my GPU that's overheating. I don't really want to under-clock it.

So, which case should I get for good GPU cooling? I would be willing to spend a bit of money on it. I've been looking at the HAF X and the Antec 1200 and they look pretty even, I'm just wondering if I'm missing any other good options (including water cooling which I haven't really looked into at all).

Any input is appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: If you want any other details like why I think it's crashing due to heat, what's happening when it crashes etc just ask. Just didn't want a wall of text.

Wink Many Choices.

I like the Thermaltake V3 for 46 Bucks, The Cooler Master Storm Scout Case 69 to 83 Bucks. The Antec Full Tower 1200 Looks Real good if you need a Full Tower? You might have to Replace the Video Card Soon if you used it Many Hours for 2 or 3 years. Some Video Cards run Real Hot and don't last very Long. Some Models stay much Cooler. Two or Three 120 mm Case Fans will keep Most cases cool.Plus the Cases with Power supply on bottom stay much Cooler too.

The V3 is an alright case for the price. But it also depends on what your system consists of. Thing like your cpu cooler, HDD(or do you have multiple?) PSU, GPU, etc. All your hardware needs to fit doesn't it? And what about budget? Do you want a full tower? Mid tower?

I started with a V3 when I first built my rig originally and for the money it is not a bad case. However it can easily get a little cramped once you begin to add hardware. And From my experiences, once you get the least bit cramped in that case, cooling isnt the best. Cable management is virtually nonexistent as well. IMO, its more of a starter entry level case.

My suggestion for you case wise would either be a Corsair 600T if you want a full tower or a Cooler Master CM690ll Advanced if you want a mid. I have the 690ll myself right now and can't see myself changing to another case. Love it.

But putting everything said aside. The best thing you can probably do it search through newegg and look at all the cases available. See what you like and don't like. Narrow it down to a few and see what other suggest. But remember, your the one looking at it everyday, not us.

Fractal Arc Midi. Kgo.

No, really.

Definite overheating? GPU's handle upward of 90 degrees.. Though ideally you'd want to keep it below 90, though I personally prefer 80 or less.

PS: I personally dislike almost all Thermaltake cases.. And most NZXT cases. Most of these are very plastic and feel flimsy.. I also dislike most Cooler Master cases.. Though the CM 690 II Advanced is a decent case; but comes with no filters, etc. I'd personally go the Arc Mid in your case.. No pun intended.

The Arc Midi is a smaller mid-case; but fits internal water cooling; has 2 top fan mounts, 2 front fan mounts, bottom PSU location/filter, rear exhaust as well as a side-fan mount. Removeable and switchable HDD cages; a nice black/white theme. Good cable management, it looks sleek, has USB 3.0. And has front intake dust filters.. If I was a modder; I would buy this case; and put a window on it. I'd replace my more expensive Corsair 650D to do this as well. If that means anything to you.

I am thinking of Coolermaster Storm Scout or Haf 912, maybe Corsair Carbide 400R for my i5-2500 whitebox.

My air cooled Arc Mini (mATX version of Midi):

The fan controller wiring is a tad lame, but I didn't try that hard...and it came with the case. That's the mess at the bottom.

Fractal Design. They make very nice sleek/simple cases that are well thought out. Solid build quality too..

Yep, Fractal Design...and this one is mine:

http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=product&prod=59

Great quality, refined simple appearance, and very easy to wire cleanly. The Arc Midi is its ATX big brother.

The Mini comes with two drive cages, each that hold 3 SDDs or HDDs, for a total of 6. The top cage can rotate or be removed. I've removed mine for airflow. The Midi is the same deal, but each cage holds 4 drives.
