not finding anything in my ideal range and i seemed to keep getting caught up on GPU specs .. i was hoping to spend 500-600 but looks like that will go up unless my needs can be met with a lower end GPU.

now its been a long time since my last laptop purchase.. and this has lasted me a very long time and pretty much handled the things i enjoyed doing.. has intel 1.46 x 2 cpu, 1gb ram, 7200 rpm HD, integrated 965 intel graphics, and blah blah blah

id like to play FPS occasionally, Americas army was cool enough for me back in the day, and so was far cry .. but im sure games are more taxing these days .. id like to be able to play a current popular FPS (even the newest americas army would do :D) .. and my second wish would be to have the capabilities to hook it up to my 32" led .. i have no idea if any laptop GPU would even handle gaming on it but that would be cool .. not necessary though .. mostly just for a monitor when i do music editing and homework .. ya i get lazy sometimes so i thought if i hooked up my laptop to the tv and used a wireless keyboard mouse id be in heaven :D

side note --- if im only dong these things visual studio, little gaming (decent settings), tv hook up how would a i3 compare to a i5 ?

UPDATE :(

well i just went and bought a cable to see what this old laptop looks like on the tv as a monitor and i must say im impressed .. good enough for me .. but i still want a new laptop :D

im thinking this video card stuff might be a little overrated for me .. a decent gpu should run the game decently enough for me

If you want to play any newer FPS, you will need something like a 560 from nVidia, or the 5870m (old) from the AMD side.

Intel GMA950 is what my MSI VR600X is running, pretty happy with it.
Plays my pornography collection at a smooth framerate so its all good. :D

I'd be looking at mid-range graphics, I think. Something like an nVidia 540M or 550M or an ATI 56xx or 57xx I think. For most games it should be decent, I should think.

Even much older generation ATI/Nvidia will handle games better than the newest Intel.
