Hey guys,

I just upgraded my PSU and graphics card and now I am wondering, what is the next upgrade that my pc needs? Which component I should prioritize over the other? I am a casual gamer who enjoys new-ish games which I like to play with more than minimal playable FPS. However I would like to build an above-average little beast :)
So..what is not written in the description is..I have a terrible Logic case and kind of old 20 inch Benq (VGA) monitor..which is ok for me.

Somethings telling me that mobo should be my next step..but what do you suggest?

Thanks!

I agree. Mobo needs to change. I would go with an 1155 socket (if your budget is anywhere less than say $750). Grab an i7 or i5 processor to go with it, and throw in a second stick of ram (ram is super cheap right now). If you have any money left, buy an SSD (solid state drive) that would be the next largest performance gain.

Holy mother! You guys don't mess around, huh ? Shooting for the stars right off the bat :D 2500k is way out of my budget atm, but point taken. I was actually thinking about getting one of these, but I decided to go for GPU/PSU upgrade as I am pretty content with my oc'd Athlon 640...mobo sucks though, that's for sure...

Any nice cpu upgrade from AMD ?

That sounds more like it. Somethings telling me though, that a nice quad core would be enough for me How does even mobo affect the performance? Is it like a platform for the really important parts like GPU,CPU or does it play a major role ? Maybe a dumb question....

It's sort of the platform, it basically dictates what CPU and GPU you can put into your machine. However, you'd need a REALLY old mobo to not support all modern GPUs, so it's pretty much what CPUs/features it supports. You don't have USB 3.0 or SATAIII I assume, so that's one missing thing

You already have an Athlon Quad with a pretty nice OC on it. You're only upgrade options are the Deneb quads and Thuban hexacores, both of which you can probably OC to around 3.8-4GHz. It's a performance bump, but not a huge one, and it may or may not be worth the money of a new CPU. You might be better off saving for a bigger upgrade later on.

^Agreed with that. The GPU you bought is by far the biggest performance enhancer you'll actually notice, at least while gaming. Anything else will net less significant performance gains. Save your money for now man.

It won't affect your FPS one bit but a SSD will make every other portion of your computer feel much faster. Less load time between levels in games too!

Ok guys, thank you! I don't have enough money atm anyway. I just wanted to know what should be upgraded first in the future. I am definitely buying a new case though, the one I have is first - terrible looking (even for a guy like me who doesnt care about how the pc looks in or outside), second- doesn't have a space for front panel intake fan.
Can you recommend something cheap but functional ?
I was thinking about Cooler Master Elite 335U. Which is extra cheap.

You decide :D

you can throw in an AM3 processor for now and upgrade to a new AM3 motherboard the following month when you have 100 bux to spend , the cpu will work however the bus will be downgraded. thats what id do if im on a budget. additionally forget about thubans theyre pretty much out of stock everywhere, however youre in luck- you wanted a nice quad here you go

[* Due to chipset spec limitation, if you install AM3 CPU on this motherboard, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0 (5200MT/s) to HT1.0 (2000 MT/s); however, the frequency of AM3 CPU will not be impacted. Please refer "CPU Support List" for more information. ]
