I've found the exact model number I need for my laptop online, but I also found an LCD made by the same manufacturer (samsung) with the same dimensions, but a higher resolution. Here's the one that was in my laptop before:

Here's the one I want to use:

1366 x 768 vs 1920 x 1080
Do the prices look legit to you guys? Are there actually 15.6 inch laptop screens with full HD?

What is the laptop's make and model?

If you are upgrading to a 1080p 15.6" screen,
you should definitely spend the extra bucks and go for the B156HW01 V.4

(Matte, 97.5% AdobeRGB 1998 !!!, almost absolute black levels)

As far as the upgrading/compatibility goes:
Your original resolution (1366 x 768) does not require a dual-link video cable between the mobo and the LCD panel. And usually computers that shipped with that resolution have a limited "HD+" single-channel LVDS cable (8 physical wires missing).

You need to research / find out what cable you have in there right now, and perhaps order a "FHD" cable from your vendor (first you'll need the part number).

Otherwise, when you plug in the new high-res screen, every second row of pixels will not be engaged and the picture will not be usable.

Good luck!

P.S. a good way to start the research is to Google: "(your model number) display swap" and display results for "Discussions" only.

Thanks man, but I already Sprung for the model I have now because it wasn't my laptop. I'll keep that in mind though for future upgrades on my own laptop / gift ideas

wait so you can upgrade the cable and therefor be able to install a higher full hd screen? will any 15.6 lcd fit into any 15.6 laptop? or are there different length x width and screen thicknesses?

I have been wanting to do the same on my Lenovo Y310 but I haven't found enough info to brave it yet. IIRC, while most panels have their own controller built-in, some needs an external matching controller. Also check if the cable fits the connector in the laptop because I have seen different pin numbers.

Please continue update your progress! :salute:

Hi, I know this is old but did you ever complete this project? I have the same laptop, I have already upgraded with i5, 8gb ram, SSD and Blu-ray drive. This would be the final piece needed. Did you need to install a dual link LCD cable or did it already have one. If so what was the part number? Many thanks.
