Command Prompt Slow as Molasses On Cold Winter Night

Whenever I go to the command prompt in Windows XP Pro and type something it is VERY VERY sluggish! Is this a normal for the rest of you as well or is there something wrong with my comp?

Anyway, its just plain annoying typing in a string and having to wait twice as long for it to echo back to you...

no that should not be, click on the mini cmd window in the upper left corner of your cmd window
then under properties and default
make sure you are at quick edit and that buffers are like 50/4

just guessing at prob, but is not right
