Older RAM not working with newer CPUs?

Is this true? I heard someone say this on another forum, and was wondering. If it is, does anyone know why?

I assume you don't mean DDR2 and DDR3. Otherwise, it should work fine. I see no reason that it shouldn't.

I don't believe so. I can clarify, but I'm fairly sure he means that, like, DDR3 1066 RAM would for some reason not work with some LGA 2011 socket Intel chip.
