Is my TV done?

I really hope someone can help me with this. My TV has been having this problem, like the top quarter of the screen going horizontally has this awful flicker/decolorization/lag thing going on. Randomly it will stop, and more often than not, the first time I turn it on for the day it's just fine for maybe 10 minutes or so.

I couldn't really figure out if that description was going to be adequate enough for someone to figure out what I was talking about, so I just took a video of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F14oOGhkJ0

Often instead of the black flickers it will be red too. I doubt that matters.

What I really want to know is if there's any way I could fix this myself, or if anyone knows what's wrong with it, or if I could maybe get it fixed somewhere for cheap. I'm not too handy when it comes to display's I've never fixed one or even really opened one up. But if I was told what was wrong with it, I'm sure I could figure out how to fix it.

This thing is about 6 years old now, but I can't really see myself being able to afford a new TV any time soon.

-Thanks

looks done, that pixilation seems like what happened to my tv, which was under warranty--- and LG replaced the entire screen matrix.

6 years man... you might want to check out some cheapo 32" deals until you can afford another bigscreen. The TCL i picked up for my Ma was 42" and 320 bucks at walmart-- (fyi, tcl makes samsungs matrix for their lcd tv's).

Good hunting/ luck-- sorry for the bad news

Sad news indeed

I should be happy that at the least I could even go with the same size for literally a tenth of a price I paid for that thing 6 years ago... they've come down so much. Maybe I can get some change for it on ebay from someone who wants to try or something and put it towards a new one. We'll see.

Well, thanks for the info, and quick response.

Wow I paid 170 shipped for a 26" 720P 7 years ago because it had "no sound and the bezel was cracked. pulled open the bezel reattached the audio cable and had a functional TV for 6 years till it finally died

Biggest suck is its more than I paid for my last 3 TVs combined.

Monitors on the otherhand I have dropped a grand on over the same period.

here is a pretty sweet deal for 120mhz... reviews say its **** for anything other than tv/movies tho
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-40...06-F7/16874085

or this deal for the next 8 hours
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Westingh...2396&cp=1&lp=1

basically looking at 1080p 120mhz tv's.... my zenith from sears is great-- got a 42" plasma that had a burn mark, LG replaced it with a 120mhz lcd and basically got me as a loyal customer for life. Zenith was bought by LG early 2000... look them up too.

Happy hunting man, but you can always recycle ur old girl and be captain planet for the day
