My HD Smoked !!!

I have a 400GB IDE HD, i bought a IDE to USB connectors but looks like it was a really cheap one. What happened is that when i have connected the power to HD a SMOKE went out.

I think that the HD board is burnt and was thinking to search for a similar HD or try to find a board on Ebay.

So i thought to ask first before i do anything ?

If it smoked and does not work without the converter, the logic board is likely toast. If you need data off the disk, get an exact model elsewhere and swap the boards out. If you don't need data, just get a new drive.
