My build, will all the parts connect?

I have the case/GPU and I'm just wondering if all of this would piece together with it/compatible?/etc

Case: BitFenix Merc Alpha
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
CPU COOLER: Coolermaster Hyper 212
MOBO: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
HD: 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
PSU: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650M 650W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 (which I will be upgrading with a 7850 soon)

Again just wondering if all that would piece together in this case, if everything is compatible, or if I could cut some corners and spend less on some of the parts (Hard drive or PSU, etc)

I repeat: The case and GPU I already own.

My budget is under $700

Thanks guys!

Lets see.... looks good to me as far as compatibility, but if you want to save a few dollars, get 2x4GB of ram unless you think you need 16GB (99% of people dont).

You can get away with a lesser PSU even with the 7850 and overclocking both CPU and GPU. CX500 would be plenty for any single GPU and overclocking.

I use Photoshop/Sony Vegas/Eclipse lot of compiling etc so I feel like it would help, or is it really just overkill for 16GB?

And yes please! Any PSU you can recommend? I do plan on overclocking the CPU and GPU but if I can get a cheaper PSU then I'll take it.

Thanks!

It depends really. My suggestion is 2x4Gb now, and if you need more, grab another 2x4GB of the same kit. :)

Question, it seems the i5-2500k (which was on sale for $169 locally) is no longer on sale. BUT the Core i5 3570K is on sale for $189 locally. Should I go with the i5-3570k or just shell out the extra $20/30 and stick with the i52500k? From what I read the 3570K BARELY outperforms the i5-2500k - people say if your building a new rig sure go with the 3570k but if you have a 2500k dont upgrade. So should I just go with the 3570k considering its actually..cheaper locally

And never thought of running dual cards, always seemed like a hassle to me. Whats your idea? Dual 6870s?

Naw, thinking more like a 7850 soon, then a second 7850 maybe a year or two down the line.

A local computer shop or Microcenter/Fry's/CompUSA/other major chain?

The 3570K beats the 2500K by a fair margin (8-9%), but it runs significantly hotter (even though it draws a good bit less power).

Might not be a bad idea down the line but like I said it seems like running two cards has lots of issues I don't really want to deal with. Much rather just shell out money for one big badass apple card.

And by "local" I mean Microcenter (local to me, only 2 in Atlanta lol), they have it at 189 and no longer carry the i52500k. I think I can deal with the temps.

If you go soon (like preferably today or tomorrow), you might be able to catch their $50 off combo. If the 2500K is OOS, then any Z68 or Z77 board + 3570K or 3770K gets you an instant $50 off. This was in their May catalog, and I don't know if they release catalogs right at the beginning of every month or whatnot.

http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/ad47b62b#/ad47b62b/27 <-- I'd grab a 3570K and an ASRock Z77 Extreme4 for $280 if you can.

It seems like once I add it to the cart online (the i5 and mobo you listed) it lists the mobo as $69 in cart. So I might order this now and pick it up

i5 3570k - $189
AsRock Z77 Pro4 - $69
Final Price: $275

So is that final price WITH the $50 off as well? Or does it an extra $50 get knocked off?
