The "Rustyfender" Problem

Let's dig into this all in one place, OK?

It's a 2700K cpu with how much RAM?

And folding these tiny WU's how many ppd do you get (total ppd)? What is the project number, for these devils?

What folding client, and/or control, are you using?

Post up the client.cfg or config.xml file, please.

And the first 50 lines (about) of the log file for a fresh start of the folding client.

And let's solve this, if possible.

I thought this was handled awhile back, so I didn't concentrate on it, anymore. Sorry.

2700K with 16 gigs of ram

currently im on project number 8004 but it seems all the WU i get latly are worth 80 some odd points regardless of the project, and yeild between 15-20k per day (20 happend once) most days its about 15-18K

i am using linux mint x64 with the x64 client V 7.1.52 and control V 7.1.52

There's not a lot point in trying to fix perfectly normal behavior of the client, but I'll tell you what I know. If you go look at server status, 171.67.108.59 and 171.67.108.59, you'll see that the weight is very high (10,000) on all the WUs, and that the minimum client version is 7 on about 1/3 of them. That increases the likelihood of a v7 client getting an assignment of those servers greatly. Combine that with AS logic that tends to "stick with" the same project and you get what Rusty is seeing.
Look in the OS_Weight_Program_Port column and you'll see what I'm talking about.

One other potential issue is not being open on port 8080. That will limit WU assignment.

Gabi's suggestion is highly likely to influence WUs assignment in a big way, The Linux v6 client almost never gets a4 WUs.

One more is to add max-packet-size with a value of big. That may knock rusty off server .59.

Use the "Finish" button to return the current wu and then go into control panel >> programs (change), and remove it.

d/l the 6.34 client and change your packet size to "big", during set up. That is what I've used on my 2600K, and I've never been given one of these tiny wu's, ever.

you have it entered correctly, but to get -bigadv WU's you must have at least 16 cores (either physical or logical) a 2600K is only 8. you have to get into 2P or 4P rigs to be able to do big adv WU's

I wouldn't advise it, but it may be possible - at least until the 69XX projects are finished. After that, the deadlines are so tight it can't be done by an overclocked 2600K (and probably not by any single cpu, but that has not been tested yet, thoroughly).

The ethics of using the bash script to spoof the server to believe the system has 12 cores, (which is now the minimum for 69XX projects), is on thin ice - if not no ice. For that reason, I haven't used it with my 2600K, and beyond the above, don't know much about it. Every team has it's own idea whether it's OK to go against the wishes of the Pande Group, as long as the folding gets done, and use the spoof, or not.

I hold with the "not" group, in general. High and low producing work units will come and go in Folding@Home. It's always been that way. I take the higher point wu's when it's OK with FAH, and I take the lower one's, when it's not. Period.

NOT YOUR PASSKEY.

To get a new internal FAH number, stop the folding client and:

1) Delete the work subdirectory
2) Delete the following files: machinedependent.dat, queue.dat, unitinfo.txt

Now when you re-start the folding client, the server will see that you have no internal ID for that rig, and give you one, according to what it's programmed for. If you have set your V6.34 client to "big", you should have excellent chances of getting different work units.

The p8046/47 wu have slightly better ppd than typical A3/A4 SMP, even after the recent adjustments.
The ~23 second frame time on Rusty's p8047 calculates as 31K ppd, not sub 20K.
My 3.8GHz i920 has 26 second frame time, which calculates as 25.8Kppd.
My 4.6GHz 2600k has 19 second frame times, which calculates as 41Kppd.

Thinking that the 23 second frame time on p8047 would be about typical for a stock 2700k, so perhaps the chip has no overclock or is downclocking.

One problem with EOC is it's use of averages - including all "outlier" values. With any small sample (like EOC's average), the average value it calculates, can easily be a distorted number.

the calculator assumes consistent frame time, qualified passkey, and no delay returning the finished wu. The limited amount of V7 log posted previously did not show the entire wu from start to finish. Providing the entire log would have allowed review for frame time consistency, errors, delays, as well as the estimated credit for the wu.

Bottom line is that a p8047 wu with 23 second average frame time would take ~38 minutes (23s x 100 frames / 60s per minute) to complete, yielding ~826 point credit, 31k ppd, assuming everything working correctly.

Looking at your EOC stats, there are two recent updates with a single wu receiving 89 point credit. Assuming the 89 points is the base credit for a SMP wu, no bonus was awarded due to lack of a qualified passkey or the preferred deadline was exceeded. psummary only shows 3 wu with 89 point base credit, a non-smp p6534 (89 points, no bonus possible), and A4 SMP p8001/8004 (88.59 points, bonus possible).

Clearly there is a problem. Could be configuration or hardware. Please post the entire log, config file, and hardware description, including overclock.

i appreciate the help but I'm am forced to put solving this problem on ice. i am moving and have to put my time into moving, building a dock, building a shop, build a retaining wall by the driveway, tearing down and rebuilding the deck and clearing a bunch of dead trees, reinforcing the floor in one spot to support the grand piano(so glad im hiring someone to move that, it weights roughly 700 lbs) .hopefully i can get back to it some time in july.
