I have an amd and intel builds in mind for a new build, however I will most likely go the intel route just because it is more future proof. Both are aimed at under 700 dollars. Case will be a tj07 I have, as the comp already in it is dead (after over a decade RIP).

Plan is to get what I need to run right now and then upgrade parts later.

Upgrade <1 Memory (full slots), HDD, graphics
2+ years CPU

The intel is going to be on Z77 chip set which is pretty future proof.

The amd is also pretty future proof as it has AM3+ socket but there will be no 3.0 PCI-e or native 3.0 USB :( also the fact I have to buy a junk graphics card to stay on budget is a negative as well.

Usage is going to be office (libre), internet, handbrake and media streaming. I will do some gaming once I upgrade the graphics, but I just don't have the time or desire to make it a major concern. It may in the future be doing some server functions as well, maybe rpd into it from work and the like.

So if given a choice what platform would you guys pick and any parts you would swap?
Or better yet is there a blatant error evident in either build?

Looking at their prices, I see why, looks like some of their parts are about 20% cheaper. My sister lives in Cleveland maybe I can con her into getting me parts.
