Hi all, I'm new to overclocking and this is my first post here.

A year after building a new PC, I now want to overclock it. I started from my processor and followed this guide to the letter. I've got a variety of failures including BSOD at startup, BSOD before startup, freezing after startup, prime95 BSOD and prime95 fatal rounding error. I even tried increasing the voltage all the way to 1.38 with no improvements.

Also, I've had unusually high CPU temps long before I started experimenting with OC. My non-OC idle temps are 38c-40c and load temps 55c. OC idle temps are 42-45. I never saw OC load temps before failure... Mind you that I have CM hyper 212+ cooler installed. Ambient temperature is around 24c. I applied thermal paste according to the Arctic Silver official instructions
and this guide. I've reinstalled the Cooler once but got similar temps before and after.

I really appreciate any insights and solutions offered!

Fill out this P8Z68-V Pro BIOS template w/ all of the settings as they were when you tried for a 4.5GHz clock. Depending on the rated timings and voltage for your RAM, the settings below should net you a 4.6GHz clock from your 2500. If you decide to use these settings, make sure to first change the DRAM timings and voltage if necessary to match those of your specific modules.
