Well this will be one of my first builds in a very long time and a lot has changed, so any input would be great. Building a everyday computer but will be gaming on it also. Planning on using three monitor but only gaming on one of the three, three monitors for multitasking when working. Example of games Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, and command and conquer. I do plan on overclocking but later.

Please read the last 30 posts in this forum. With a bit of homework on your part you would have a great answer in 2-3 hours of effort.

I'm sure we will chime in, Knufire will post his great questionaire, you will answer it like the last 20+ people in the last 30 days and they come up with what they need.

Your build request is in the bell curve of the top 20% budget builds, and we have 2-5 of them in the posts in the last 30 days. All you gotta do is read and read, link to best posts, get a piece of paper and pencil and go to town.

Post your results in a few hours, we'll last look, your done.

:welcome:To the Overclockers forums!

You seemed to have started out with some great selections. For us to help you better, it would be good to provide us with a budget you plan on spending for this rig. It will also help us to know where you live and prefer to shop for components. Do you plan to build and let it rest or do you plan on some incremental upgrades in the near future?

You will need a good power supply and case.
Thanks, and enjoy your time here.

Hey, welcome to OCF!

When trying to recommend a build to you, there's some information that's extremely helpful for us to know. If you could answer these few short questions, we'd be happy to help!

  • What are you planning to do with this compuer? Please be as specfic as possible.
  • What is your budget?
    1. Does this include a copy of Windows?
    2. Does this include peripheals (a keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, etc.)?
  • Are you from the United States or a different country? Are you ordering from your own country or from across borders?
    1. Wherever you may be from, does the store that you are planning to order from have a website? It's okay if it isn't in English, we can manage.
    2. If you are from the United States, do you live nearby a Microcenter?
  • Do you have any specific requests with the build?
    1. Do you plan on overclocking? If yes, do you have a specific goal in mind?
    2. Would you prefer the build to be particularly small?
    3. Would you prefer the build to be particularly quiet?
    4. In general, do you prefer this to be a computer that you can spend money on now and let it rest, or a box built for continuous upgrading?
    5. Do you ever plan on utilizing NVIDIA's SLI or AMD's CrossfireX technologies? These features, with a compatible motherboard, allow a user to link multiple identical graphic cards together for added performance. In real world terms, this lets you buy a second identical graphics card down the line as a relatively cheap and easy way to gain a fairly large boost in performance. However, this requires buying a SLI/CFX compatible motherboard and PSU now, which may result in slightly higher initial cost.

Once again, thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these, and I hope you enjoy your stay at OCF! :)

Budget around 1500 for rig itself everything else is ready, but not set in stone. Location Dallas, TX and as for prefers does not matter best price wins. I will upgrade it but not for about a year or so. I have a copy of window 7 pro ready.

Updated current list.

For $1500 you can get a better GPU and an SSD. Vertex 4 SSD and toss a GTX 670 in there.

Get a standard BR burner, your done. Maybe a few good case fans and a fan controller.

I built this:

I added a fan controller and a few fans also on another order.

I got the 650 PSU because it was a package deal, good PSU and I wanted it. You don't need a 650 watter. You can freely read all about PSUs in the PSU subforum, start at the stickies.

Yes the 670 is better, it's modern tech, the 68xx series is older. And I think mine even uses less power and it's silent.

You buy what you want, I just tossed out my list from a month ago.

Microcenter.com, Newegg.com, and Amazon.com in order. Also lets you upgrade to dual cards in the future. If you don't think you'll go dual video cards, you'd be fine on a 500W PSU.
