Need a good 2TB+ NAS setup.

Currently have a 2TB external drive dieing on me and need to upgrade. Just wondering option wise what would be a good NAS option.
 
Are you building your own server or buying a pre-built unit?
 
I would prefer a smaller prebuilt system. 2 or 4 HDD slots.

Never used one before so not sure exactly what to look for.
