Hi guys

My mobo and perhaps my 6100 cpu died this morning now i dont want to spend to much to buy a new cpu so im getin either a 965 black edition quad core or a 1045T six core

Wich one should i buy? 99% of the time i game i rarely edit something

so wich one should i get? the 965 is 30 bucks cheaper aswel.

ran at 3.7 for a LOOOOONG time. not a single complaint. dropped it to 3.3 because my room got too hot. I'd buy it over again.

the 6100? i want to have real cores so its either 965 or 1045T what would you chose? 6100 is expensivr as the 1045 lol

My suggestion would be to get the Asus M5A97 R.2 motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873 and the X4 965 if you are primarily using it for gaming. That motherboard will handle overclocking of that CPU easily and for gaming you would not be able to take advantage of the extra 2 cores on the 1045T. The X4 965 will overclock higher as well.

I second this budget and performance-oriented suggestion :attn:

I'd RMA the CPU and mobo. Shipping costs for new parts beats buying new IMO.

I second that, plus the 965 is generally easier to OC and I love my M5A97, it has been excellent for its price. Plus running my [email protected] with 6 cores is providing less performance across a wide range of games than I get from running it as a 3.86Ghz quad so for gaming I doubt you'll regret not getting the 1045T.

If you went with the 1045T you could also end up like me. I found myself wishing I'd gone for a 965 after my 1045 turned out to have 2 grumpy cores. Now I have a 3.86Ghz quad core limited by bus speed when I could probably have a 4Ghz+ quad core and more $ if I'd grabbed the 965.

The 965 will breeze at 3.7GHz, hell 4.0GHz with a decent heatsink.

That Tigerdirect link, the 955 is cheaper and OC's just as well.

I know the 955 is the same and cheaper but i can't find any on the webshops im buying my stuff at so i just get the 965 its only 10 euro's more

I got 4.1 ghz on my 955 Prime stable without a lot of trouble. Same board as you are getting and using the Coolermaster 212 plus with one fan.

Sweet how many volts it is at 4.1 ghz? i'm planning to get 4.0ghz and keeping it there ^^

1.475 volts in bios for CPU but with CPU Load Line Calibration "Enabled" so under load it pulls maybe 1.525 vcore according to HWMonitor. As always, I must use the disclaimer: "A system is just that, a system. Every system is different. The individual components interact with one another to produce a different effect and your results may and probably will be different from mine with the same values plugged into bios."

go with trents, the 955-965 are great cpu's, don't need high Euro, high end boards and are better than than fx cpu's.

I'll take a phenom over an fx so fast it'll make your head spin.
8350=$189.00
board able to support it=$200.00
965=79.95
board to support it=$129
and clock for clock the phenom will beat bd and pd in my book.

On the contrary, a GABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 gets all the way down to 99.99 (Usually 119-149.99) and can take a 8350 up to 5.1GHz fairly easily. Why did you pick a $200 board as the "Start point" for support?

A good PD FX processor is a worthy upgrade over the Deneb and 4-core Thubans IMO, but you can't beat the price of a 965 + decent older mobo combo.
