hello i need some one to help me find a socket am2 or am2+ motherboard right now i have an amd athlon 64 X2 socket am2 cpu that i plan on throwing in the new mobo untill i can afford a better cpu upgrade so basically what i want to do is esentialy take the ddr2 memory and my dual core cpu out of my current small form factor pc and stick them in a new mobo untill i can afford a better upgrade my budget is 100 dollars but keep in mind i also have to use some of the 100$ to buy a power supply as my current psu is proprietary thanks would like a board thats able to run my current cpu but that also allows me to upgrade to a better more faster cpu for games so if the board supports my cpu as well as a phenom or phenom 2 quad core ill be happy thanks

I think you'll be stuck with the used market if looking for an AM2; no retailers are going to carry and new stock.

It may be disappointing to hear, but I'd recommend you save that $100 and continue to add to it until it's at least tripled in size. You really need a mobo/cpu/ram/psu upgrade which at bare minimum will run you $300.

EDIT:

NewEgg has the following available for sale less than $60. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157274&IsVirtualParent=1. This should fit your needs however my first assessment stands. You should save your pesos and purchase something that has some future ability.

You really needed to do some homework about your current motherboard and case and how the ATX motherboards have little chance of working in a case that has had a BTX motherboard in it.

"Zebodog" said it the best when he said you need to save your money and make a full change over to a better mobo/cpu/ram/psu upgrade and get a case made for the ATX standard and not the BTX which never really came into overall use.

Later the BTX form factor had a big change by turning it into a mirror image of the ATX standard. Since the new motherboard design, both standards are incompatible.

Save up and get at least a six core FX processor, a 990FX board, and some DDR3, and a decent power supply. If you buy an AM2 board and a power supply now you'll get a terrible quality board and a terrible quality PSU. That's not worth it.

i cant save up hell im on my phone right now because i have no workiong pc i need a working pc for school
