Bye, bye PCI: already a done deal?

My Asrock x79 Extreme 4 still has PCI slots (that I don't use). Is PCI going to be completely phased out anytime soon? Or is it already a done deal?

I still have PCI cards I used in some other builds and was thinking of buying another PCI video card as a backup.

Definitely don't buy any new PCI parts. PCI will eventually disappear the same way ISA did. It's obsolete but not extinct.
