Going to get an FX-6300 and motherboard, have GTX 660 Ti.

What would be my best option? Are the new AMD processors just as fast as the FX-6300. I can spend 110-140 on motherboard and processor.

This is going to be from www.microcenter.com in store. If you could look through them, and give me advice because I get 40$ off of any one that I choose.

My ideas are these, im looking to go open box because it is cheaper. what motherboard would you choose off of the site? Doesnt have to be one of the ones I link. Just looking for the most reliable and some OC room.

Also I have the black revision 5.0 of this board that i am returning, because I dont know anything about it^ is it any good?

GA-970A-UD3P, especially for that kind of budget.
The UD3 would be good also, but make sure it isn't a Rev. 3.0.

Any OCing will be a pretty futile attempt on anything that doesn't have an 8+2 VRM, which (out of your list) the two Gigabyte 970 boards are the only ones that have it.

I agree with Atminside, out of the ones you posted the 970A UD3 would be my only consideration.

What about the asrock? What is difference between the ud3 and ud3p. How do I know the revision I'm looking for

could you link me to the board I want please

He said, the 970A UD3... but that said there are two.. .UD3 and UD3P... both seem viable to me as they fit what they are saying 8+2 power phases...

No clue... but please stop double/triple posting...LOL! I know you need an answer fast but this is not an IM client, LOL!

I said get the UD3P (any revision) or the UD3 (any revision besides 3.0).
If you ask them the revision and they can't tell you, just get the UD3P.

The ASRock has a crap VRM section, it'll barely OC anything besides an FX-4xxx.

so get the black one and not worry about the revision ud 3p what's the difference between the regular you need 3

Could you please slow down and use proper English? I can't understand what you're asking in that last post.

8+2 VRM is the section of the motherboard that handles power delivery to the processor.
Lower number of phases of VRM mean a weaker power delivery, which is crucial to the ability to overclock an FX processor.

I am tired of cleaning up after you bono... no more multiple posts in the thread... again this is NOT an IM client. You can still type legibly and EDIT posts from your phone. Do so. :)

I am sorry you chose to research at the store... next time, plan ahead... this is insane...

+1... and he specifically said open box at Microcenter....since he was standing there posting... a ton... in the store. LOL!

Yes i did see the UD 3 Price, but i looked at the price @ Newegg and thought that was really good for that! And like i said it does give him wiggle room to up grade to a FX-8350 or overclock the FX-6300 with confidence!

As our good friend RGone say's better to buy once than twice later!

Ah well thanks guy's. ;)

The UD3 and/or the UD3P gives him room to upgrade to an 8350 also...

My UD3 pushed that 6300 I've got into the 4.8-5.0GHz range for benching, with little to no effort. Plenty to give an 8350 a mild to moderate OC.

GA-970A-UD3P << That is the NEW replacement for the GA-970A-UD3 and does not come in a wonky Rev 3.0 to worry about. It is new and in Rev 1.0.
RGone...
