Hello All

I just recently purchased the following to update my very aged rig.

Proc - A8 5600K (Black Ed)
Mobo - Asus A88XM-A
RAM - 8GB (2x4GB) Sniper DDR3 1866Mhz CL9 1.5V
Samsung-840EVO 120GB

That's all for new parts.

The PSU is an older Silverstone SST-ST50EF (500WATT)

When I had it all put together and tried to fire it up for the first boot I got a kind of weird noise. I thought it was a case fan rubbing on some wires but then it just kind of died. No post, no display. I tried one more time this time the noise was not there and it didn't die one me but still no display/post. Is the mobo toast? Is the PSU no good for the above components?

Thanks for any and all input.

Regards

Tompei

IF you have already mounted into case, then remove and do a minimal test build outside on wood or rubber mat and not the outside of an anti-static bag since it is conductive. This should tell if the mounting into case has caused a short of some sort.
