new cpu,old cooler

my old cooler has left over thermal pad on it
i just bought a new cpu and i dont have any thermal paste
can i run my new cpu (morgan duron 1.2) with my old cooler or do i have to wait till my new cooler comes??

the old cooler shouldn't be a problem, but the lack of thermal paste is. If you absolutely can't wait, go to radio shack and get some of their thermal goo. It works pretty well, and will tide you over until you get some Arctic silver.
