How much Creative cares about drivers?

I have been using a MX-300 sound card based on the Aureal 8830 chip for a long time. The sound quality is good but Aureal has closed operations before the drivers matured. It was bought by Creative. You know how much Creative cares about driver development, especilly when the product is not theirs and is over. The latest driver is 4.06.2048, feb, 13, 2000.
Does anyone knows about further development of this driver?

Creative does have newer drivers for the sound cards but they try and get you to buy them. They dont post them on the site and I cant remeber where to find them. They sell them for 5 bucks I believe. Try calling then thats hoew I got info from them.
