Can I share a scanner on my network?

I have Windows 2000 pro on 2 PC's coupled via a Siemens router. I have the drives and printer shared and would like to share the scanner also. Is this possible? Do I need to install the scanner drivers on both PC's? Also I'd like to share my CD-RW and I'm using Nero 5.5.4.0 I have shared this device as well but Nero doesn't seem to look for networked components. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I don't think scanners can be shared.

While I don't think you can share a scanner, there is nothing stopping you from saving the file across the network to another user's computer after you manipulate it from photoshop or whatever you use. I do this all of the time.

I have shared an HP scanner in win98 before, but why would you want to? i had mine shared between computers that were across the house, so you gotta walk all the way to the scanner, load the picture, walk all the way back to the computer, scan it, then walk back to the scanner and get the picture back.
its more useful to just use the computer the scanner is on and save the picture to a disk or send it across the network.

dont you have to walk over to the scaner anyway

why not just use the comptuer its attached to and save the file ina a shared folder and then acces it thre the network

or you can use VNC to remotely make the comptuer its attached to scan ifyou really want to do it over the network
