Just in case you don't all already know, you can download a program called multires, it locks the refresh rate to 85hz or whatever you have your desktop set at.
If you don't use this, even though your windows refresh is set to 85 or whatever, the game runs at 60hz. At least with opengl games. For instance, load quake3 and hit your monitors OSD and see what the refresh is at, probably says 60hz if you haven't hard set it. Just a tip to all that don't know, I know it helped me a lot with making games look much nicer......like they should be default.

good reminder rosk0!

The 60hz "bug" is only present in the NT series of Windows- all you 9x fellas don't have to worry.

Multires is free from www.entechtaiwan.com and is totally worth getting even if you don't play games much.

NOKIA monitor

I have a Nokia Multigraph 447X CRT monitor...how do i find the refresh rates it supports?

Edit: never mind...I found that information in powerstrip...I am testing out multires right now...it seems to be a very helpful utility.

Thanks!

There is an easy command you can type to change the refresh in most games, though I am work and don't have it handy.

Sure there is an easy command for EVERY different engine. r_displayrefresh etc etc etc. It is just much easier to use multires

another option is to lock Direct3D into whatever refresh rate you want. It's in the Direct3D Diagnostic (dxdiag.exe) on the More Help tab, under Override. only fixes Direct3d games, theres something different for OpenGL.
