Koolance PC2-601 Opinions

OK, in my opinion, my system is running a little on the warm side (60C at idle), and summer is fast approaching, so it'll go even higher. In a nutshell, this case just stinks for cooling. (Currently using the AOpen HX-08). Since it's tax time, I'm seriously looking at the Koolance tower to solve my temperature issues. And hey, it's been 1 year, I'm due for a new case anyways . Anyone had any observations about this case? Either good or bad. I've looked over the reviews, and it seems OK, just wondering if anyone out there has a nightmare to share before I blow 400 bucks on a case/PSU combo.

take a look at the HSF/WC results on the front page. It will answer your question better than I can!

Happy with case

I just got this case earlier this month. I am really happy with it as an entry level cooler...My average CPU temperature running an overclocked 1.4 Athlon at 1.6 Ghz (1.89 V) is usually around 28-30 C....I had no problems installing everything, and think it is very well designed. The only addition I am making is to add two ultraquiet 80 mm fans to the back just to help with case temperatures and airflow. I am very pleased with it so far...

OK I'm sold

OK, looks like a good deal. I gotta do something. 60C is way too hot, and this thing isn't even overclocked. This is running at the regular 1.2GHz. I gotta do something before the heat gets here. Nothing like getting woken up by your temperature alarm at 3AM. This was a nice case when I bought it, kept my K6-2's well within designed temperature specs, but it just wasn't designed for the temps Socket A's produce. There is simply not enough spaces for fans without taking a hacksaw to it.

Haven't heard much on it, but I've read some reviews and gotten people's opinions on it. basically the concensus was, it was ranked at the top of air, performance wise, without the noise. So, you should get some good cooling a little bit above air, but not have the noise. I also heard it was extremely easy to set up. So I would say, go for it. I don't think you'll be dissapointed. Honestly, you could setup one yourself for cheaper, but it won't be as easy and probably won't be as neat.

Like I said, it's tax time. Gotta blow it somehow.

You might also consider the Swiftech Quiet Power. It outperforms the Koolance and is very quiet. It is a bit more $ though but all the parts are quality! Eheim 1048 (158GPH) pump, New Swiftech water block, Hayden low pressure drop radiator, 4 120mm fans and a really nice LiteOn case. My idle temps (with Compunurse touching the core) are 35C at 2V, Load is 41C.

Already checked it out. I borrowed a IR thermometer from work. temp is only off by +2 degrees C. (And people say nothing useful comes from Radio Shack.)
