Premiere 6.01 for Mac Problems

I am working on a video at school on the macs. They are running osx on a dual 1 ghz g4 system. I am trying to capture a video I have shot on Mini Dv from a JVC mini dv player with firewire out. The firewire cable is pluged in and it will allow me to capture in I movie but I really ant to work with premiere and my teacher wants everyone to be using that so Im trying to fix the problem.

Does anyone know what may be causing Premiere not to capture, it dosnt think any devices are plugged in.
