Folding WU taking 2days

I have two setups one is my OCed 1800+ running win XP I put out two to three 700series wu s a day. My other system is a 1.4 t-bird running win 98. It takes 2days to do a WU. Its been running 1of10 for 5-6hours now.. It is a fresh install of win98 only other thing I have running is pc alert for temps and the network stuff.
My 1800rig is already finished with p701 started the same time as the 1.4 rig which is still at 1/10.. Any ideas guys??? I have deleted core 65 in the past with no diff. Just want to fold faster

Is the core_65 running? You are not the first person this has happened to.
Have you tried the debugFAH3 client? Not sure if that would help or not. http://folding.stanford.edu/DebugFAH3.exe

edit- about your sig. Are you just pasting it in place? When I quoted your post the whole sig showed up in the quote. If you want you can go to usercp > edit profile and you should find a place to add your sig. You won't have to paste it in there any longer.

Quick add to my post... system resourse say I am only using 8% of my cpu when folding. 92%free... I tried running debug in the past but it cashed... lockup.. everytime. I formatted my harddrive because of it. afraid to run it again do I run it with the program running or with folding closed (not running)?

Thanks

It sounds as though your core_65 isnt' running. Is there anything in the log that can tell you what's going on? Maybe a post of the last 10 lines of the fahlog could help?

crewdog- with only 8% usage your core_65 is either not running or in a not responding state. Which folding client are you running? How long have you had this problem on your 98 machine?(ie. has it been this slo since you first installed it)

edit: ploaf beat me to it

It just hit 2\10
It has to be the core65 that is using the processor. No my windows resourses are showing 86%free. I am using the latest update 2.19 I believe. I downloaded it installed it then before starting I deleted the core65 so I was not using the slow one. It is running but not using everthing my CPU has to give. Here is my log and system resorses. Sorry so big.. I just closed the program and restated it. I was lloking at the config and hit quit by mistake.
Let me know if you can help me... Sorry Moderator for the long post. I wont put my sig

It looks like it's working. http://atm.rm.it/ they have a task manager for windows 98/me that will tell you how much of your cpu is being used.

It could be that you have dl'd a bad wu. You could try deleting the work folder and see if that gets you anywhere

oh. your post is fine and I don't think there was anything wrong with you sig. Just trying to help ya out. There is an option in your profile to add a sig. it will be added with each post so that you don't have to add it yourself. http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/member...on=editprofile

or you can click on the usercp button near the top of this page and see what options are available.

crewdog: if you hit ctrl-alt-delete once, do you see core_65 in the window? If not than your client isn't running. If the only other thing you have running is a temp monitor then it doesn't sound like anything is slowing it down. Have you tried just deleting your folding directory and downloading a fresh client and installing again? Other than that, I'm stumped. But there are other folders here that are more knowledgable than me. HELP GUYS

It is running at full speed again!! Maybe it was a bad work unit or something. With my 1.4 tbirb everytime I install the folding program I get Setup has caused a stackdump or page fault.. No BSOD just an error. It looks to have installed and brings up the config screen. It is using 100% cpu now. I downloaded the client again last night at 12-1am my time. Now its 930am and I have 8/10 done. Go figure. I amnot sure what is causing the prob but as long as its working now It has done this on and off since I started folding with it. Usually its off (running slow) though. If anyone else has this problem let me know and I will tell you all the things I have tried. My tbird rig is almost keeping up with my 1800XP rig!! And I dont know why setup keeps causing an error when I install on that machine. If you other folders hear anything let me know please..

Well since this morning my computer has been working on 8/10. My cpu was still running at 100% I cannot figure out why it keeps slowing down. Could it be my ram doing this??? It is pretty mismatched... Pieced together from a bunch of places. I have one 256 simm that has chips on both side and the others have chips on one side.. They are all marked as pc133 sdram (not DDR)
The comp has hit 9/10 but it took 8-10hours to do 8/10. the first 7/10 took 7 hours. This is bumming me out!! help please

This is a strange problem. Just an idea, you might want to check your task scheduler to make sure that no programs have scheduled themselves to be run at certain times during the day. Also might want to check your stability. Are you having problems with any other programs?

I am not having any problems with anything else. I built the system for my 4 yearold. So it is a very basic install. It has win 98 on it with a few games. I dont eve have the schedualing agent running (I do it manualy) There are a bunch of games on it that run for ever (even with a finger spazing 4year old) Folding is the only one I seem to have occasional problems with. No matter how I try to install the client I get a error at setup but it looks to have installed. I just have the basic stuff running in the task mon.
Folding just seems to slow down at times. I dont know what else to try. Thats why I am down to thinking its a hardware issue (like mismatched ram) but the rig runs the latetest 3d games with out a prob. (you should see my kid play medal of honor) Anyway I am done with it. Folding on that machine is just gonna have to be iffy its still producing and running very good for everything else.
