Hello guys

Would you please post the results for the memory benchmark for us to compare?

I have had an issue with one of the results that is the RAM READ which is too low for my system.
When the CPU is set to fast (133/133), the RAM READ drops TOO MUCH (i.e. from 3500 to 900).

I have changed the memory modules for no avail.
The other results (WRITE and COPY) are ok.
The software used is Wintune 97/98.
This is the only one I know that has this kind of
memory speeds.

Here are the links to download the software:

Thanks in advance.

Hi Placid
Hi forum
Glad you posted your results.
:)

Let us forget cacheman for a while and pay atention to the wintune numbers.
I have some questions here.

1- Are you sure the 914 is for write and not read benchmark?
2- Dont you think it is a odd low number, if compared to the ones we get with CPU at 100 x 10.5 , for instance, as we can see by the numbers I am posting??
3 - Can you slow down you CPU, say for about 1 gig to see if the slow number grows up, as happens here to my system?

and please post the cpu speed mesured with wintune for the coparison, for it is related to the memory ones.

Here are the benchmarks:

AMD 686
(1) 1050 MHz
Windows 98 4.10.2222 A

Memory Details

Memory Read Speed (MB/s): 3690
Memory Write Speed (MB/s): 2315
Memory Copy Speed (MB/s): 1537
Installed RAM (MB): 128
Free RAM (MB): 20
Memory used (%): 82

At this moment I have only 128 installed but I can tell it does not matter by the tests I did so far.

So when I set the CPU to Athlon XP 1600 (133/133) these are the numbers I get:

AMD 686
(1) 1442 MHz
Windows 98 4.10.2222 A

Memory Details

Memory Read Speed (MB/s): 951
Memory Write Speed (MB/s): 3482
Memory Copy Speed (MB/s): 2004
Installed RAM (MB): 128

So the RAM READ also drops like yours to about 900.

At XP 1900 (150/150) it showed this numbers:

Memory Read Speed (MB/s): 1071
Memory Write Speed (MB/s): 3935
Memory Copy Speed (MB/s): 2265

So can somebody help us understand the DROP of the READ number when INCREASING the CPU speed ??

Please do your tests!

Thans in advance.

Yes I just copy and pasted what the test results were.
The program is old and does not even recognize my cpu and old programs used with new chipsets and cpu's will often give misleading results.
I can slow my cpu to stock speed of 1.8ghz if you want but I can't go to 1.0ghz.

I know the program is old but I think it should be
at least coherent, that is, increasing numbers with faster CPU. I stil belive there is something odd with my sytem as explained in the previous message.
Maybe somebody else will help us further.

Thanks for helping Placid.
