Posted a prob in another thread but have figured out whats wrong so I wanted to start another thread.Have run my p3 866@942 forever with an asus v7700 vidcard.Put in a Xtasy geforce3 ti500 which with cpu at 866 gives me 2000 more points on 3dmark 2001.Reset cpu at 942 (145 fsb) and on reboot graphics looks like standard vga mode.Running the det 22.50's as I was with the asus card and it shows the dets are still installed. This card should have no problem overclocking so what do you thinks wrong here.

Btw 3dmark 2001 scores 5634 with the ti500

That score is at default 866 if I run it at 942 the graphics looks like standard vga mode even tho the 22.50's show as being install, thats my problem. No devider change so at 942 it runs 1/2 but my asus geforce2 pro had no problem with 145 fsb.Sure seems that this Xtasy should be able to handle it.

Put in the 28.90 dets and it runs at 904 (139 fsb)
5781 3dmark score and quake2 crusher gets 91 fps with aa set to 4x.Not sure if I want to try 145 fsb I think 140 is where it goes to 1/2 divider.

I hear 23.11's or 28.32 dets are the best for GF3 Ti cards.

Also, how are you overclocking the card, i.e. what are you using to do it? As far as I know that FSB shouldn't be bothering it that much, I run at 164 FSB with the AGP at 82 MHz, that's WAY out of spec and it runs fine.

Ya thats the weird thing this card should have no problem with 145 fsb.I am not oc the vid card yet and if I do it will be with coolbits.Asus card didnt have any prob with fsb.I am at 139 now and all is fine.Would like to find out why it wont hit 145.

hey make sure you get the 23.11 if you have a gf3. i had the 28.32's and downgraded to the 23's and my 3dmark score went up 500points. i got a ti200

I will give them a try.Well after running at 904 for a few hours I went for it and it booted fine at 942 (weird). Ran 3dmark 3 times with a best of 5853. It locked up on second run but ran fine on third.Still get 96 fps on q2 crusher where as the gf2 pro gets 100 but even in 4x AA i get 93 fps I think I smell a reason to upgrade to a 2 gig cpu shortly.

Really?!? I knew the 23.11's were good but I never knew... I'm gonna be formatting this weekend, I'll play around with those pre-format so once I do format it'll be nice and clean with the good drivers.

Another thing to note chief, how's your power supply? I hear GF3's are pretty power hungry. With less power overclocks can be hurt.

Yeah i love doing stuff like that. In a year or so before i upgrade to a Geforce 5 or whatever itll be by then, i am gonna go and use AA Epoxy to connect a SK6 and a 50CFM Delta just for kicks just to see how high i can overclock thing thing before i get a new card... i cant afford to mess anything up on my graphics card so that is why i aint replacin stock coolin now :)

23.11's only got me 105 more points... Hmmm. Oh well, an improvement is an improvement. I STILL havn't found the time to really push my Ti200 that I just got a few days ago. Went to 240/525 but havn't played much over that. From what I hear these things should hit 250+/550+, we'll see! No artifacts or crashes so far, so I definetely got some more room to improve.

Plus I'm gonna be reformatting and playing with a higher FSB. Right now I'm at 8678 with 3dmark, so 9k should be easy stuff. I want 10k though! I was thinking of attatching a cheap CompUSA CPU cooler to the vid card. They got one that's thin fin copper with a 60mm fan for $20, and even cheaper ones too. Even a crap CPU heatsink should beat a corb though...

you have a gainward? you are lucky that you got 240core. i cant get any higher than 237. my mem i have running at 530 now. i have tried up to 540 and didnt get any artifacts then but i am too scared to run it on that w/ stock coolin

Well heres what I come up with
asus gf2 pro 22.50 dets cpu @942 = 3500

Xtasy gf3 ti500 22.50 dets cpu@866 = 5634

same 28.90 dets cpu@904 =5781

same same cpu@942 = 5853

same 23.11 dets cpu@904 = 5812

looks like the 23.11's will be the best when I get the cpu back up to 942.What I have found my problem that I talked about in my first post is that for whatever reason I can not install new drivers with the cpu overclocked. If I set it to default all goes smooth then bring it back up.

update to this set vid card core 250 mem 525 and scored 5896
all test ran with default settings on 3dmark2001
