what could the problem be?

1 have 2 questions....#1my computer is fairly ok but not too fast and not overclocked since im a newbie.. Well ive been having problems, problems such as: getting into windows and the screen just freezing andmouse not being able to move, or when i bootup the powere light wont come on and when it does theres no display. these to me sounded like video problems . whats your opinion. #2 ive been thinking of buying a voodoo5 64mb pci card to see if the problem would be fixed...is this worth it?

cr0nus

by the way the reason i want the voodoo to be pci is cause i have an allinone motherboard

Why do you suspect the video card... You may want to B sure that it is before buying a new one.

well i guess the easyest thing to do would be to blame the video card unless well what else could it be? I just put a rage 3d video card in and booted up and everything seemed fine...so i guess problem solved...

Sometimes if the video card is not seated all the way you will have problems like that. It may not be that you had a bad card but in changing it out you seated the other one in better.

Agreed, I had an s3virge (i know..POS) but it did work as intended, but the connector was misaligned, and with the back plate on the card, it wouldn't go in the slot all the way...and I actualy had to loosen the plate, stick in the card, and then tighten the screws...eventualy I modded the plate a little, so I could lock everything down without worrying about seeing a black screen.

You didnt say what kind of video card you are using now. Maybe its your motherboard or power supply.
Could be your video card or your bios.

Try looking for a bios upgrade. And as someone else said check that the card is seated all the way.

the problem cant be the seating of the video card because i dont have an agp on my mobo. The video card is built on and shares memory, 8mb to be exact. I have one of those all in one video cards. Sorry i didn't mention this earlier, could have saved you guys a lot of trouble.
