Question Clock Speeds!

Hey People!
Ive got an 'Eagle GF2 MX400 64mb' not the best card but it will have to suffice for now.
Anyway I want to overclock it, so I enable 'clock freq. adjustment' in the advanced properties and reboot for the changes to take effect, after it reboots I go to change the clock speeds and the 'Core' is 175mhz and the 'Memory' is 0mhz...hrmmmmmm
So i go and download 'NVMax4' and it tells me the clock speeds are 'Core' 200mhz and 'Memory' 334mhz...hrmmmmm
What the hell is going on?

And what are the default clock speeds, anyone know?

cant really help you out with the clock speeds, but try Rivatuner from www.guru3d.com....it reads the default speeds fromt the video card bios...Powerstrip is another good one that reads from the bios...

G2 MX400 clock speed:

Core: 200MHz
Memory: 166MHz

So, either the program you're using is mis-reading the memory clock, or you have one of those rare MX's that use DDR memory...

166x2=333MHz (but it's only 64 bit, so it's no better than SRRAM)

But I would be very surprised.....I think only creative made those....

card

200/333, same as a GF2 GTS I have right now in another system. I'd also recommend using rivatuner to overclock the card. I've gotten better results that way. Tweak the clocks and make test runs with 3dmark2001se.

When you get the most from your card, check out the OC'ers 3dmark team!! Link in my signature.

i had close to the same problems when i tried to overclock my geforce 2 mx 400, i tried a bunch of things, coolbits, rivatuner, and 1 or 2 more, and they all gave weird readings, and when i tried to set it higher it didn't really work. (about the only good it did do was allow me to really underclock my memory for the lowest 3dmark score contest alittle while ago. i almost won it hehe) but yeah, the only program i got to actually work right with it was powerstrip. and unfortunantly it is one of those pay-for programs, but it does work.

Don't use NVMAX or Coolbits for overclocking GF2 MX series. I have an MX200 and I have the same problem as you. I use Powerstrip and it works fine for me. You can get it here:
