Question AMD Athlon 1700+ xp is not working properly with A7A266-E 133 FSB. HELP ME

Hi,

I am using A7a266-E [A7A266-E/550/PA/5P-UAXZ] ASUS motherboard + Athlon 1700+ XP CPU , 128 RAM. And OS is Windows 2000.

My machine rebooted automatically oftenly while working. The even log message is,

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xc0000005, 0x8046749b, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\Minidump\Mini061102-02.dmp.

After my rebooted automatically BIOS showing this message
-------
During the last boot-up, your system hung for on improper CPU Internal Frequency setting. Your system is now working in safe mode. To optimize the system performance and reliability, make sure the CPU speed conforms to the specifications of your CPU
--------------

My Bios update seems Updated one. Ver 1011. and following is the setting.
CPU Speed 1.466MHz
CPU Frequency multiple 11.0x
CPU/PCI Frequency Mhz 133/33
CPU Memory Frequency ratio 1:1.

My m/c is new built. And temperature or CPU is reaching 65~72'C.
I have not overclocking CPU. and i have not updted BIOS verion. The factory version itself is 1011.

Can you pl give information,
1. What is the reason for rebooting?. Is A7A266-E compatiable for AMD Athlon 1700+ XP CPU?.

2. What is maximum temperature of CPU?.

If I run on 100 FSB it seems works fine. But i am getting only 1.1GHz (100*11.x) speed even the CPU supports 1.466 GHz.

waiting for your kind replies.

Thanks & Regards

Uhm ok ? didnt know that BIOS revision existed, did u update the BIOS yourself ? (Enybody else heard of this revision ?). Try using 1009 instead or the new 1010.
You can DL both of them from ASUS's homepage or this link:
http://download.asus.com.tw/mb_dl_me...10&l3=13&mid=1

Your windows problem might have something to do with the temp of the CPU. The temps u mention are WAY to hot

What kind of HSF do u use? And are u using thermal paste ?

If you havnt overclocked the cpu the temp should be max 50 degrees on 100% load.
Also the BIOS warnings u get might come from the CPU being to hot. Are all your seting set to default ? How hot does your CPU get at 100 x 11 ?

Try reseting the BIOS, and then set up your CPU to run 133 x 11

What Heat Sink Fan are u using (HSF) ?

Sorry about the version thing looks like 1011 is the current version of this type of mobo. U dont need to update it.

Oh and btw.
