Arrow Power!

Hi,
I'm currently using a p3 450 on a gigabyte 6BXE mobo, planning to upgrade to either a tbird 1.3 or a duron 1.3, with an elite k7s5a mobo and 256 DDR.
Will I need a new PSU? I dont know what psu i've got now & I dont know what i'll need.

Here's the rest of my system if it helps:
seagate 8.2G HDD (at least 3 years old), Gforce 2mx 32Mb, cheapo 32x CD, 56.6 modem and a SB audio pci 64.

Also, will the Tbird or Duron choice affect the PSU?

Hope you can help,

Cheers.

For AMD rigs, you'll need at least a 300W power supply. If you're going to overclock, you need to be especially sure that you're using a high quality power supply. Check in the Cases and Power Supply forum for more info. All you questions are already answered there.

Hey, JoeyAbs, welcome to teh forums.

The other thing you might want to consider is that your hdd is the biggest bottleneck of the system, especially if it's older. You might consider upgrading to a 20 GB 7200 RPM ATA-100 hdd. You can get one for around $75-$90, I think.

Good luck, and have fun! -- Paul
