OK, I'm going to get a Digital Doc 5, and I wanted to know where would be the optmial place to mount the thermal sensor for my HSF, and for case fans? By this, I mean what technique do I use to find optimal case fans settings. Second, would 40C be the best temp for the HSF to turn on? Any comments or suggestions, please.

i believe you want to put the probe as close to the base of the CPU as you cant, never mash the brobe between the CPU and HSF

Simply slide the probe between the MOUNTED HSF and the CPU.

As far as what temp to kick on the HSF, 20C. You don't want the CPU w/o a HSF for more than a second.

Digital Doc turns fan on or off right? Doesn't have variable speed control?

well i just got one myself, what it does is just gives u the ablity to set a fan at a certain temp to come on, it does not have speed control, however u can monitor how fast they are going.
