Simple but effective 3.5″ HD cooler – Joe
SUMMARY: Simple but effective 3.5″ HD cooler.

The good guys at Jetart were nice enough to send a sample of their 3.5″ Bay HD Cooler (#HCA06) to try out.
Key Features
- Construction: Aluminum
- Size: 102 x 90 x 15 mm
- Fan: 60 x 10 mm, 0.84 watts, spec noise level 22.5 dBA
A bottom view:

The HD Cooler is mounted on the bottom of a hard drive – you have to ensure that there is enough clearance under the fan to allow unobstructed air entry.
To test its effectiveness, I placed a thermocouple of the top of a Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm, 120 GB, HD and measured the drive and ambient temps; I then mounted the HD Cooler and measured temps after a half hour with the following results:
| Test |
HD Temp

Ambient Temp

33.4ºC

18.7ºC

14.7ºC

| Jetart 3.5″ HD Cooler |

Jetart’s HD Cooler dropped drive temps by 9.1ºC – not bad! The fan is very quiet – you will not hear it in a case.
Jetart’s 3.5″ HD Cooler is a simple, effective solution to moderating HD temps. I installed it to test and it’s staying there.
Thanks again to Jetart for sending this our way to test out.
