MSI R9 290X Lightning Video Card Review

Today we will be reviewing the mighty R9 290x Lightning from MSI. Some of us may recall the outcome of the GTX 780 Lightning review wasn’t exactly what the enthusiast crowd wanted it to be with the imposed power limits that were in place. Now, to be fair, this was not MSI’s fault. That distinction is squarely on NVIDIA’s shoulders for their ‘green’ program. That aside, this is an AMD card and we will have no such limits! AMD Launches R9 290 Series Graphics Cards

In addition to the fact that they were unable to seed one, we have it on good authority that multiple US offices of board partners (big ones) hadn’t even held one of these in their hands as of late last week. Partners aren’t sampling reference boards, only AMD is, so either supply is tight or AMD is controlling this launch just as tightly. This is, in fact, a hard launch – AMD expects immediate availability. There isn’t any information on supply amounts though. Hopefully they’ll have plenty. Time will tell. Read More
